APPLE MUSIC

Apple Music is Apple’s music streaming service. Audio files can be streamed or downloaded for offline play, and there are also song and genre-based radio stations available. Apple Music integrates with one’s existing iCloud Music Library to combine Apple Music songs with songs that you have previously purchased on iTunes.

Apple Music is currently available on desktop, as well as on iOS and Android devices.

  2. Go to “Library.”
  3. Click on “Playlists.”
  4. Select a playlist to stream.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Songs purchased on iTunes but streamed on Apple Music will not be counted, as only songs played from a paid or free trial Apple Music subscription are considered as valid streams; however, each time a song is played from the Apple Music Library, it is counted as a stream.

Tips:

  • Music videos can also be purchased on iTunes and streamed on Apple Music.
  • If songs or music videos were purchased on iTunes, they must be deleted from the library and streamed directly from Apple Music for the streams to count; however, the track or video does not need to be purchased again.
  • Avoid bot-like behavior.
  • Do not loop a song or use only one playlist.
  • Interact with the app by skipping songs, changing playlists, and so on.
  • Remixes, instrumental versions, and music videos of a song can be added in the same playlist. Although the streams from different versions contribute to different charts on Apple Music, all the streams contribute to a single position of the main song on Billboard.
  • Each play over 30 seconds, whether downloaded or not, is counted as a stream no matter where it is being played from if the song is an Apple Music file or sourced from Apple Music.
  • When creating track focused playlists, add 1 – 2 other songs in between two consecutive focus tracks to avoid filtering of streams.
  • To create an “on-the-fly playlist” for streaming, use Apple Music’s queue or up next feature.
  • Share the song’s lyrics on various social media platforms by tapping the “More Options” button, then choosing “Share Lyrics.”
  • Share the music on various social media platforms by tapping the “More Options” button, then choosing “Share Music.”
  • Suggestion for iPhone users: To prevent automatic download of new or free purchases made on other devices:
    • Go to “Settings” on your device.
    • Select “iTunes & App Store.”
    • Turn off “Automatic Downloads” for “Music” and “Cellular Data.”

Why streaming on Apple Music is important:

Streaming on Apple Music is important for many music charts, including Billboard, as it helps boost BTS’ sales. Furthermore, popular tracks on the streaming service receive more exposure to the general public.

NOTE: Stream Equivalent Albums (SEAs) with 1,250 paid platform streams = 1 album sale.
